The Paisleys.

When a lady known as doctor daisy found out that mothers of sons were sending them to war, she came up with the idea of making a Mothers of Empire badge. She had a special interest in children and women's well being. This is when Dr daisy thought that mothers who had sent their children to war should wear a special badge. The paisleys were a family of five, with three sons and the mother and the father. Agnes Paisley (mother) had sent her three sons to war, saying goodbye to them and maybe not even knowing if she would see them again. The three sons all enlisted early, they were farmers from Otago determined to serve. But sadly, none of the boys returned home. But sadly, none of the boys returned home.

  1. Kia ora Rikki-Dean. I enjoyed reading your blog post. I did not know anything about the Mother of Empire badges. It must have been hard for for the family to say goodbye when the three boys went to war. Plus it would have been hard for them to manage the farm without them. What a terrible waste of life caused by war. You have done some good work here. Well done. I look forward to seeing more of your blog posts.
