Last Friday some students from Paihia School went to Waikare to represent our school for Interschool Cross Country. When we got to Waikare we setup our gazebo and the little kids started to race. When it got to the 11 year old boys race I was running in it. I was so nervous racing these kids because I knew them and they were all fast, the lady said go and all the 11 year old boys ran. Our track was sprinting the first 100 meters, then up a hill and across a hill, then down that hill and we done that track twice. A boy fell over and it made me laugh for ages. My school mates ran right next to each other and when it got to the final straight I started sprinting. The ladies that were waiting there for us to finish said I came 5th but the kids that were going to the Advanced School Cross Country came 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. When I finished, I didn’t care if I came first second third or fourth. I knew I was a champion. The thing I liked about going to Waikare was eating.
