Blog posting

Date: WEEK 7My Writing: Outside of Te Ngahere we have been making Rakau for culture festival in Kaikohe. Seven boys from our kapa haka roopu went to a teachers house to cut some branches off a Totara tree. Then he dried them out in front of his fire because they were wet, and a few weeks later he came to school with them. He also came with sanders, bark removers, coating oil, sandpaper and a chainsaw to shorten our Rakau if we needed to. I didn’t because mine was already short, I was the second one to get sanding with sandpaper and the second to last to finish. Then everyone was back  to removing bark from their Rakau and I was the last to do it. After we finished bark removing our rakau we got onto electric sanding. When everyone was done I started and a friend and the teacher helped me zip through my work. When I had finished mostly everyone was finished oiling there rakau and I just started and didn’t finish. I loved making the Rakau with my friends and two teachers. Also I’m so excited to go to the culture festival if we are still going.
